Awareness and Sensitization Workshop on User Experience & Design System: Transformation through UI/UX for Digital Governance

On 13th August 2025, State Level Awareness & Sensitization Workshop on “User Experience and Design System” at the State Convention Centre, Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, jointly organized by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the Department of Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha, and the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), brought together officials and developers to deepen their understanding of UX and design principles. Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary Electronics & Information Technology and Energy Department delivered the keynote address underscoring the need for embedding UX principles in e-Government services.

The inaugural session also featured addresses from Shri Debabrata Nayak, Chief Technical Officer, NeGD/DIC, and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Raut, Special Secretary to Government, E&IT Department, followed by the release of the brochure on UI/UX in e-Governance. Dr. Ashok K. Hota, DDG & SIO, Odisha, delivered the vote of thanks.

The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including the UX4G Project, UX design thinking, and the process of conducting UX audits for web and mobile applications. The sessions were led by the UX4G team, with Shri Ajeet Kumar (Dy. General Manager), Ms. Stuti Sharma (UI/UX Designer), demonstrating the UX4G Design System and its benefits, as well as case studies of the Odisha State Portal and the Odisha One app.

The final session, moderated by NIC, introduced participants to “Zero UI – the Future of Interfaces,” highlighting emerging trends in digital governance. With over 100 officers and departmental representatives in attendance, the workshop provided practical insights, interactive sessions, and hands-on demonstrations, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to delivering user-first, accessible, and consistent digital services.
